When disaster strikes, firefighters need more than courage—they need fast, reliable information. The FOR-5G project, developed with the Imagine Beyond 5G consortium and EURECOM, is showing how 5G technology can give first responders the edge they need.

Led by Rinisoft and Correlation Systems, the project combines AI-powered drones and IoT sensors to spot fires, track smoke, and locate people in danger. Thanks to ultra-low-latency 5G, vital data like air quality, temperature, and the positions of civilians and responders flows instantly to command centers, helping teams make life-saving decisions in real time.

Trials have already proven the concept, delivering uplink speeds of 83 Mbps, downlink speeds of 173 Mbps, and latency under 30 ms. Even more importantly, the project showed how private 5G networks can keep communications secure when public networks fail.

The takeaway? 5G isn’t just about faster phones—it’s about safer communities. With FOR-5G, emergency response is becoming smarter, faster, and more connected than ever before.
