FOR-5G: Transforming Wildfire Response with 5G and AI

As wildfires grow more intense and frequent, emergency teams need faster, smarter solutions. The FOR-5G project, funded by the European Union’s IMAGINE-B5G initiative, is revolutionizing disaster response by integrating cutting-edge drone technology with artificial intelligence and 5G connectivity.

At the heart of FOR-5G lies a powerful combination of innovative systems. Specially equipped drones use advanced WiFi sensors to detect mobile phone signals, enabling them to locate people in distress even in areas with no cellular coverage. This breakthrough technology eliminates reliance on visual identification, allowing rescuers to find survivors faster than ever before.

The system’s AI capabilities, powered by Rinisoft’s SmaugAI, analyze real-time video feeds to identify and classify fire and smoke with remarkable accuracy. By processing data directly on the drones and leveraging 5G’s ultra-low latency, FOR-5G delivers critical information to responders almost instantly.

What makes FOR-5G truly game-changing is its unprecedented efficiency. A single drone can scan an area of 100 square kilometers in just one hour – equivalent to the size of Paris. This rapid detection capability, combined with 5G-enabled real-time data transmission, gives emergency teams the tools they need to contain fires earlier and coordinate rescues more effectively.

Developed through collaboration between Rinisoft (Bulgaria) and Correlation Systems (Israel), FOR-5G represents a major leap forward in public safety technology. By harnessing the power of 5G networks, AI processing, and autonomous drones, this innovative system is setting new standards for emergency response in an era of climate-driven disasters.

The project demonstrates how advanced connectivity and intelligent systems can work together to save lives, protect ecosystems, and create more resilient communities facing growing environmental challenges.
