Introducing Antenna-I: Revolutionizing IoT Quality Control with AI-at-the-Edge

At Correlation Systems, we are constantly exploring new ways to enhance the reliability and performance of our IoT sensors. Today, we are proud to introduce Antenna-I, an innovative project funded by the AI REDGIO 5.0 Open Call 2, designed to redefine quality control in antenna assembly through the power of AI-at-the-edge technology.

 

The Challenge

Manufacturing IoT sensors with integrated or external antennas presents unique challenges. Even the slightest assembly error, such as an antenna coming into contact with a metallic component, can significantly impair performance, leading to unreliable data and increased return rates. Traditional quality control methods, like radiation pattern measurements, often involve costly equipment and specialized expertise, making them impractical for small and medium-sized manufacturers.

 

The Antenna-I Solution

Antenna-I addresses these challenges by combining ESP32-based receivers with advanced AI algorithms to analyze antenna patterns in real time. The system is designed to predict assembly quality with an accuracy of at least 90%, ensuring that every sensor meets stringent performance standards. By operating primarily at the edge, Antenna-I minimizes latency and reduces reliance on cloud infrastructure. Additionally, the system requires minimal training, making it accessible to operators with limited technical expertise. With a target cost of under 150 euros per unit, Antenna-I offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional quality control methods.

 

What’s Next?

Over the next six months, we will pilot Antenna-I in our manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic, with plans to expand its deployment to our other global sites. Follow our progress as we share insights and milestones in our journey toward smarter, AI-driven manufacturing.
